Are you a TRADER, in the TRADING business?
Isaac’s wife, Rebecca, could not conceive. Isaac petitioned the Lord on her behalf.
Genesis 25:20-21 NKJV “Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.”
The Lord heard and answered his prayer. And she gave birth to twins: Esau and Jacob.
Esau was the first born and was in titled to a greater inheritance than Jacob. The firstborn in those days typically got double the inheritance of the second born. The birthright was a very special honor for the firstborn. The firstborn was also to become the family’s leader.
25:29-34 NKJV “Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.”
Esau despised his birthright! Esau TRADED his special birthright for food? A momentary gratification.
I wonder how many believers TRADE their ‘born-again birthright’ for some immediate pleasure? Esau lost sight of his future and traded his birthright for some immediate gratification.
Believers frequently loose sight of their future, including all the blessings and promises of God, including healing, for some immediate gratification, sin.
God blesses the righteous, those who make the choice to obey His Word.
Psalm 5:12 NKJV “For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.”
Psalm 106:3 NKJV “Blessed are those who keep justice, And he who does righteousness at all times!”
A person who does righteousness is one who obeys the Word of God.
Matthew 5:6 NKJV “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.”
If we make the choice to obey the Word of God, walk in righteousness, then God has no problem blessing us. He will hear and answer our prayers.
Romans 8:32 NKJV “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”
But if we disobey the Word of God, sin, then the Lord will not likely hear our prayers.
Isaiah 59:2-3 NKJV “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, SO THAT HE WILL NOT HEAR. For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity.”
Obedience to the Word of God is righteousness.
Romans 6:16 NKJV “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?”
Royal One, do you so easily TRADE your born-again birthright for momentary sin; So that you step out from underneath the blessings of the Lord?
Many believers have trouble receiving from Yahweh because of this very thing!
If you have in the past, TRADED your birthright, then repent!
If YOU need to repent for any reason; (uproot the seeds of sin that you have sown) DO IT! YOU must turn from your sin, disobedience to the Word of God, and turn back to God, and make the choice to obey His Word; then ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus! Forgive everyone who has ever harmed you; forgive yourself for the hurt that you have done to others and to the heart of God.
