In Exodus 24 Moses met with the LORD on Mt Siani.

Moses came down from the mountain and spoke to the people. Moses read the Lord’s instructions to the people. He built an altar to the Lord had some young men sacrifice to the Lord at the base of the mountain.

Exodus 24:4-8 NKJV “And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.”And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.”

Notice, Moses took half the blood and sprinkled it on the Altar then he took half the blood and sprinkled it on the people.

Why did he do this? Our God is holy and He condemns sin. The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23 NKJV”For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”)

The Lord accepted the death of an animal, something had to die, because of the sin of men. The life of the animal was given to save the life of men. The blood of the animal was proof that something had to die because of the sin.

The blood represented that something had died but it also represented that life was spared, “saved”.

The sins of men were forgiven by the death of the animal and the proof was in the Blood.

The blood of the animal brought ‘life’ to men.

Leviticus 17:11 NKJV “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’”

These blood sacrifices of the Old Testament were symbolic of or representative of the Blood that Jesus shed at the foundation of the world.

(Revelation 13:8 NKJV “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”)

After this sacrifice, Moses went back up on the mountain and he took with him: Aaron, Aaron’s two sons Nadab, and Abihu and seventy of Israel’s elders. God appeared to them and did not destroy them. They had a covenant meal with the Lord.

When the blood was sprinkled on the people it demonstrated that the penalty for sin was paid and they could now be reunited with God. They were covered by the Blood.

When he sprinkled the blood on the altar it demonstrated that sinful people could again approach the Lord because something had died in their place.

Exodus 24:9-11 NKJV “Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank.”

Why didn’t God kill those who came before HIM with Moses? God saw them through the Blood of the animal that was sprinkled on them.

It is the same for us in this dispensation. We must repent of all our sin and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus before we approach the Lord in prayer. God will then see us through the Blood of Jesus.

We can boldly come before the Lord if we have repented and have asked for forgiveness in the name of Jesus.

Hebrews 4:14-26 NKJV “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

God gave specific instructions for Moses to build the ark of the covenant in Exodus 25.

Exodus 25:17-22 NKJV “You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold; two and a half cubits shall be its length and a cubit and a half its width. And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work you shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat. Make one cherub at one end, and the other cherub at the other end; you shall make the cherubim at the two ends of it of one piece with the mercy seat. And the cherubim shall stretch out their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and they shall face one another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat. You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.”

The Ark represented the resurrection of Jesus. Notice God would meet with mankind after the resurrection of Jesus.

When Mary looked in the tomb after Jesus was raised from the dead, she saw the picture of the Ark. One angel at the the head where Jesus had laid and where the bloody grave close laid; and another angel at his feet.

John 20:11-12 NKJV “But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.”

The Ark was God partially revealing the resurrection of Jesus Christ at the foundation of the world to the Hebrews.

The entire Bible from beginning to end is the continuous revealing of Jesus Christ Crucified from the foundation of the world.

Friends I hope this teaching helps you understand our great and awesome Salvation! Make every effort to honor Jesus by obeying the Word of God. When you fail, repent quickly and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus. The name of Him who shed HIS BLOOD for you. Remember, sin is simply disobedience to the Word of God.

If you need to repent for any reason; (uproot the seeds of sin that you have sown) DO IT! YOU must turn from your sin, disobedience to the Word of God, and turn back to God, and make the choice to obey His Word; then ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus! Forgive everyone who has ever harmed you; forgive yourself for the hurt that you have done to others and to the heart of God.
