Have you Stepped into Your Destiny with the Lord?

We have talked about in the previous messages that the Lord calls us before we were placed in our mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:16 NKJV “Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.”

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Each of us has a calling on our lives from before the foundations of the world. There is a key that we must do in order for that calling to be manifest in our lives.

Josiah became King when he was just 8 years old. It had been prophesied that he would do some great things for the Lord. This prophesy was many years before he was born. Neither Josiah or any of his advisors knew of this prophesy.

We must remember that a true prophet of God does not predict the future. When God rested on the seventh day of creation, He was at the end of the age looking back. The seventh day was the day of rest when Jesus would rule and reign on the earth. Jesus is the true Sabbath. Everything that God had done, was doing or would do in the future was finished. God will reveal a glimpse of His finished works to one of His true prophets.

Let’s take a look at King Josiah.

2 Kings 22:1-2 NKJV “Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath. 2 And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.”

Many Christians us the excuse that it is just too hard to follow Jesus, to obey His Word. King Josiah at eight years old made the choice in his heart to obey the Word of God.

King Josiah steps into his destiny in God. He commanded that all the false idols and altars in his kingdom be torn down and burned.

2 Kings 23:13-20 NKJV “Then the king defiled the high places that were east of Jerusalem, which were on the south of the Mount of Corruption, which Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the people of Ammon. 14 And he broke in pieces the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images, and filled their places with the bones of men.
15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place and crushed it to powder, and burned the wooden image. 16 As Josiah turned, he saw the tombs that were there on the mountain. And he sent and took the bones out of the tombs and burned them on the altar, and defiled it according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words. 17 Then he said, “What gravestone is this that I see?”

Josiah has the graves of false prophets and false priest dug up and burned. Then he comes to the grave of a true prophet of God.

“So the men of the city told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things which you have done against the altar of Bethel.”

This prophet had prophesied that Josiah would do these things before Josiah was even born.

18 “And he said, “Let him alone; let no one move his bones.” So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came from Samaria.
19 Now Josiah also took away all the shrines of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger; and he did to them according to all the deeds he had done in Bethel. 20 He executed all the priests of the high places who were there, on the altars, and burned men’s bones on them; and he returned to Jerusalem.”

Wow! Josiah is adamant about doing the will of God. He kills all the false priests and burns them. When Josiah is doing these things, he is just 18 years old. He has been king for nearly ten years. How did Josiah arrive at the place where he was fulfilling the prophecy about his own life; a prophesy that he had no knowledge of beforehand.

The Book of the Covenant (Book of the law) had been found in the wall of the temple and brought to Josiah when he was 18 years old. He was having the temple renovated.

2 Kings 23:1-25 NKJV “Now the king sent them to gather all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem to him. 2 The king went up to the house of the LORD with all the men of Judah, and with him all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant which had been found in the house of the LORD.

Josiah called all the people together and had the Book of the Covenant read to them. After it was read to all the people, the King made a covenant before the Lord.

3 “Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant. 4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring out of the temple of the LORD all the articles that were made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel. 5 Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem, and those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.”

Josiah commanded that all the unclean things be removed from the temple and all the false priest be arrested.

Notice, Josiah made a covenant with the Lord. He made the choice to obey the Word of God. When he did, God began to direct his steps. Psalm 119:105 NKJV “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”

God was guiding Josiah before He made the commitment to obey Him. But the key is, Josiah, allowed the Lord to lead him and did not fight against the Lord in his calling.

Isaiah 42:16 NKJV “I will bring the blind by a way they did not know;
I will lead them in paths they have not known.
I will make darkness light before them,
And crooked places straight.
These things I will do for them,
And not forsake them.”

God will also guide each of us into our calling; even when we do not know that He is doing it; even when we are blind to it. But many of us with our mouths and our lack of faith cancel the direction that the Lord is trying to take us.

God will guide each of us into our calling. When we make the choice to obey the Word of God, then God will lead us into our calling.

Josiah finished his reign with a good report from the Lord.

2 Kings 23:25 NKJV “Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.”

Will you position yourself so that the Lord can guide and direct you into your destiny?

Psalm 37:23 NKJV “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way.”

Proverbs 2:20-21 NKJV “So you may walk in the way of goodness,
And keep to the paths of righteousness.
21 For the upright will dwell in the land,
And the blameless will remain in it;”

To be righteous before the Lord simply means that you are in right standing with Him. In order to be in right standing with Him, you must simply make the choice to obey the Word of God.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV “Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
8 It will be health to your flesh,
And strength to your bones.”

Royal One, will you position yourself so that you can step into your destiny in God? Make the choice to obey the Word of God?

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Will you make the choice to allow the power of the Living God to flow through you?

Ephesians 3:20 NKJV “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

The ‘will of God’ will be revealed to us, when we make the choice to obey the Word of God. You too, can find yourself standing in a high place and knowing that you just fulfilled what God had the prophet speak over you, before you were born.

If YOU need to repent for any reason; (uproot the seeds of sin that you have sown) DO IT! YOU must turn from your sin, disobedience to the Word of God, and turn back to God, and make the choice to obey His Word; then ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus! Forgive everyone who has ever harmed you; forgive yourself for the hurt that you have done to others and to the heart of God.
