Bible Lesson Notes In The Story
1. Do not feel inferior to others because we are all wonderfully made by God. (Psalm 139:14)
2. God gives everybody at least a talent to be used in the world. (Matthew 25:14-17)
3. If a Christian does not use his talent, he would become useless. ((Matthew 25:18-27)
Richard was the smallest boy in the class though he was not the youngest. His parents were so poor that they could hardly give him and their other children everything they need. This made him looked so weak and small.
All other students normally laughed at him. They would call him names like “Richard, the small boy” or “Richard, the weak boy.” He could not play football like other boys. He could not answer any of the questions the teacher ask him in the class even if he knew the answer. He was always afraid that the rest would laugh at him if he tried to do anything. His mates maltreated him in the class. So he felt that he was not a normal child.
One day, his mother took him to a birthday party where he met many other children. Because he had been made to feel bad about himself, he went to sit alone somewhere. A boy called Moses went to make friends with him. Soon they began to talk about many things. Richard told Moses how the pupils in the class treated him.
‘If they treat you like that,’ Moses said, ‘you don’t have to feel bad about yourself. You must believe what God says about you. God says you’re beautifully and wonderfully made. You can prove it to all the children in your class that there are some things you can do which they cannot do.’
Richard became excited about what he learned from his new friend. From that day, he began to study hard. He also practice how to run fast. If his mother sent him on an errand he would run there as fast as he could. Guess what was the result of the study and the practice. He came third in the examination. During the school inter-house sport, he got a gold medal in relay race! Then many children in the class began to make friends with him, calling him a new name, Richard, the brilliant boy and the medallist.
