The Spirit of the Lord is upon me

Are you anointed for service to the Lord?

Somebody will say: “All Christians are anointed for service to the Lord!” The answer to this statement will become evident as we read the teaching.

Isaiah, the Prophet most quoted by Jesus, shared this in Isaiah 61. Remember, Prophets do not predict the future, they reveal something that is already finished/completed in God (the WORD was complete in the beginning).

Isaiah 61:1-3 NKJV “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah was referring, of course to Jesus.

Jesus was anointed for service to the Kingdom of God.

Acts 10:38 NKJV “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

Jesus, Himself, needed the Power of the Spirit. He came to earth in the form of a man. When was Jesus anointed? After He was baptized by John the Baptist.

Luke 3:21-23 NKJV “When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli.”

Notice Royal Friends, Jesus started HIS earthly ministry after HE WAS FILLED with the Holy Spirit, anointed!

The Spirit of the Lord drove Him into the wilderness to be tempted for 40 days.

Mark 1:12-14 NKJV “Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness. And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.”

After Jesus resisted all the temptation of the devil, He came out of the wilderness in the “Power of the Holy Spirit.”

Luke 4:14-22 NKJV “Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Jesus just let the people know that He was Jesus, the Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach, their Messiah.

Jesus grew in the Power of the Spirit by resisting the temptation of the devil. Friends, it will be the same for us. After we get born-again and filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in other tongues, we must also resist the devil’s temptations. The more we purpose in our hearts to obey the Word of God, the more that we will also walk in the power of the Spirit.

(James 1:2-4 NKJV “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”)

When do born-again believers receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit and Power?

Acts 1:8 NKJV “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The only evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in other tongues, your heavenly language.

Acts 2:2-4 NKJV “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Jesus wants all born-again believers to be filled with the Holy Spirit and power!

Mark 16:17-18,20 NKJV “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with NEW TONGUES;

Notice friends, Jesus is commanding believers to get filled with the Holy Spirit and speak with new tongues! “THEY WILL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES!!!

If I tell my child: “you WILL get in there and clean your room.” I am not asking them to clean their room, I am commanding them to clean their room!

Signs and wonders will follow those who are born-again and filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in new tongues!

18.”they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in new tongues, you will lay hands on the sick and they will recover!

20.”And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.”

The Lord works with those who are born-again and filled with the Holy Spirit; He confirms the Word that they preach/teach/share with signs, wonders and miracles.

Jesus literally instructs us to do the works that He did, even greater.

John 14:12 NKJV “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

Are all Christians anointed for service to the Lord? Nope! Only those born-again believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit and Power with the evidence of speaking in new tongues; and those who resist the devil’s temptations and purpose in their hearts to obey the Word of God.

Jesus obeyed the Word of God 100% of the time. His Father, Yahweh, is the Word of God. Jesus only said what His Father, the Word, told Him to say. He only did what His Father, the Word, told Him to do.

(Philippians 2:8 NKJV “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became OBEDIENT to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”)

Royal Friends, will you make the choice to fulfill John 14:12 for Jesus? Be born-again; filled with the Holy Spirit and Power with the evidence of speaking in new tongues; resist the devil’s temptations; and make the heart choice to obey the Word of God?

If YOU need to repent for any reason; (uproot the seeds of sin that you have sown) DO IT! YOU must turn from your sin, disobedience to the Word of God, and turn back to God, and make the choice to obey His Word; then ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus! Forgive everyone who has ever harmed you; forgive yourself for the hurt that you have done to others and to the heart of God.
