There are THREE STAGES OF CHRISTIAN DEVELOPMENT taught in the New Testament.

From a seed to a full grown fruit producing, mature (perfect) tree

The clearest way to see is through 1 John (first epistle of John).

Children (carnal converts, babes, babies) to Young Men (adolescent, disciples), to Fathers (full grown, perfect, mature adults, elder).

The truth is God demands change in His followers.

From a seed to a full-grown mature tree, there are three stages of Christian development. Growth is necessary that the disciple may produce the fruit of the spirit.

Even Jesus grew Luke 2:40 And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

The Examples of Growth unto perfection are

Apostle Paul said of his growth in his faith – “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” 1 Cor 13:11

Jesus spoke of Apostle Peter in the same regard – “Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” John 21:18

Deeper understanding in our faith is dependent on ones individual growth.

But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor 2:14

Apostle Paul could not speak to the Corinthians spiritual things – And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

Apostle Peter also giving sound advice on how to grow as a Christian – As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

What is the Milk of the Word? Apostle John plainly teaches

My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not.
Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth.

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
And this will we do, if God permit.
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Grow up Christian, allow God to perfect you into a fruit bearing tree and no longer a seed. Let God clean your life up removing sin from your life by His Supernatural Power of His Holy Spirit. Be honest and sincere with both yourself and God, as to your spiritual condition and pray God to give you growth.

The days are waxing worse, there isn’t time to play around any more. These Are the Days of the Great Falling Away.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you Perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
